The Register

Frequently asked questions

What is The Register?

The Register is a family tree and history app built for Kenyan families. Build an interactive family tree, record life events and stories, and keep it all in one place your relatives can visit any time.

Do I need a Safaricom number to sign up?

Yes — sign-up and login are verified by an SMS code, which currently only works with Safaricom numbers.

How much does The Register cost?

You can start for free with one family tree and up to 25 people. Paid plans add more people, more trees, extra storage, and the ability to attach photos, videos and documents to your family stories.

Can other family members help build the tree with me?

Yes — paid plans let you invite other family members as collaborators, so more than one person can add relatives, events, and stories to the same tree.

How do I pay for a plan?

Paid plans are billed through M-Pesa — no card required.

Is my family's information private?

Yes. Every family tree, person, and story is private by default and only visible to you and the collaborators you invite — nothing is public or searchable.
